Casa Shalom Library
July 6, 2017 - (Mary Kaye Hagenbuch) - Palm Beach Gardens, FL - It was my honor to install a name plate on the Casa Shalom library in memory of Hyman Walborsky, Aileen Josephs' father. My husband and I travelled again to San Lucas in June and found that the children of Casa Shalom have enjoyed the library and were ecstatic to have more books brought in, especially for the young adults. We have added Literacy Activity Packs this year to connect the children and their house parents to fun activities that follow a fun theme in the books. Everyone loves the library.
I took your concerns for the surrounding "aldea" to heart and installed a "Little Lending Library" for the people in the town to begin reading and trading books. We used the duplicate copies from the library at Casa Shalom to give out and start the process of reading and returning books to a home in the center of the town. In time, we hope all the people in San Lucas will be reading and enjoying these beautiful books. Thank you Aileen Josephs for caring enough to help with our library project.
